    Poland has joined co-sponsors of draft resolution on the World Bee Day presented by the Republic of Slovenia at the Second Committee of UN General Assembly.

    The aim of the initiative is to raise public awareness of the importance of bees and pollination services and their role in addressing global challenges such as global food security, the eradication of hunger and malnutrition, prevention of biodiversity loss and the degradation of ecosystem services and implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals.

    The World Bee Day initiative has been endorsed by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and its Member Nations.

    The World Bee Day is be declared for the first time by UN General Assembly on 20 May 2018.
