On October 4, 2018, the Permanent Mission of Poland to the UN in New York hosted an event on „Future of Youth (un)Employment – Eastern European national strategies” organized by the Polish youth delegates, Klaudia Klonowska and Agata Krząstek, in cooperation with the youth delegates from Bulgaria, the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

The list of panelists included: Mr. Vinicius Pinheiro, Special Representative of the International Labour Organization  to the UN, Ambassador Michal Mlynár, Permanent Representative of Slovakia to the UN. Mr. Andrew Wilson, a representative of  the International Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Pablo Angulo-Troconis, a representative of the World Federation of UN Associations, and youth delegates.

The panelists,  together with other assembled participants, had an opportunity to discuss the best solutions to facilitate the transition from schools to labor market. They reflected on the challenges that youth has to face: an ever changing labor market, high unemployment rates amongst youth and lack of adequate skills. The most difficult moment for young people is when they enter the labor market, for which they are not prepared. The participants agreed that it is of vital importance to create, with participation of youth, tailor‑made strategies of employment for young people so that they can best fit their needs.
